Title 1
What is Title I?
Elkin Elementary School is a School-Wide Title I school with 47% receiving free or reduced lunch. Highly qualified and experienced teachers and teacher assistants serve students in the area of reading using a combination of individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction.
Teachers utilize data through mClass, RenaissanceLearning Star Reading assessments, and classroom formative assessments. Student needs are identified, and instruction is targeted according to specific needs.
Title I provides federal financial assistance to schools with high numbers of economically disadvantaged children to help ensure all children meet achievement standards. A school must have at least 35% of its students receive free and reduced lunch to qualify. Elkin Elementary currently has 47% designated.
